Your Summer Checklist

Summer officially began on June 20 this year,  These 6 to-dos cover all the bases, so you can enjoy your month to the fullest.

Install screen doors

Installing screen doors is a great way to take advantage of the summer breeze without the annoyance of mosquito bites.

reorganize the kitchen

This is a great time to go over your kitchen’s functionality. A smoothy maker or ice cream maker might be something to bring down from the top shelf.

Update emergency supplies

If you have kids summer is full of fun adventures and outdoor activities that are usually accompanied by scrapes and scratches. Making sure you have up to date medical supplies is a good idea.

Set up a place to dry beach towels 

Having a place for wet towels and clothes is a great way to ensure they won’t end up on furniture.

lighten up decor

Bringing in lighter drapes and fabric colors really makes the house feel more open and fresh.

schedule major outdoor projects

Give yourself a project this summer. Build that deck or outdoor area you have always wanted. Some of my favorite childhood memories were building a garden in our back yard and eating our own fresh vegetables during summer.

4 tips to create a dramatic room.

Lighting

Lighting is one of the most important aspects of a dramatic room. The key to making dramatic lighting is focal points. Try a chandelier over a dining table or shaded lamps in the bedroom.

Bold colors

Using a bold unique color creates drama in the room along with contrast. Working with two contrasting colors adds the most depth in a room.

Shine

Stainless steel, crystal, and marble materials work really well with dramatic lighting. Shine can add a layer of detail to the room.

Texture

You could always use a nice wall covering but if you really want to make a serious feel to the room i like to go for texture in more natural subtle ways. Adding marble or a mohair to a room really can set it apart and they fit most styles.

Throughout the day, design and decorative professionals, interior designers, industry partners, architects, manufacturers and builders will enjoy unprecedented savings on floor samples, antiques, art, accessories, lighting, rugs, residential and commercial furniture and more. Create a romantic evening with friends and wine by adding string lights and a chandelier.

Bring the outdoors to you by adding sliding doors.

Add a mirror.

Add a mirror to your outdoor space to give it some unique character.

5 Colors that will be huge this summer.

Sunny Yellow.

This fun color will be used to create contrast this summer. You can’t help but smile in a room with this color. To  make this color pop without being over done use it on accent pillows paired with a soft neutral such as gray or white.

Exotic Orange.

Bright orange is a instant energizer. This color is bold. A temporary wall decal can be a great way to have some risk free fun this summer.

Soft Gray.

This shade of gray is classic and versatile. We love how so many colors can work with soft gray.

Mediterranean Blue.

Nothing is more inviting than a crisp body of water on a bright summer day. Create that feeling by immersing your room in this beautiful shade.

Nature-Inspired Neutrals.

Use nature inspired neutral colors to bring a breath of fresh air into your space. Incorporatenatural or weathered wood creates a organic feel.
